This site presents a couple of interactive media environments as well as media projects.
The interactive environments are research projects and focus on interactive architecture,
interactive dramaturgy, context awareness, affordance and spatial cognition.
For news have a look at this page.
For an overview of the projects please visit http://current.performativespace.com.
In the following I give a brief overview of my most interesting projects:
Evolving Oblique (2003/2004)
tags:
interactive environment and installation, interactive architecture, video tracking, embodiment, performative space
Evolving Oblique is a project by Joanna Walker (University of Cambridge, UK) and myself
that we initially did at IAMAS in Japan. It is an interactive architectural environment
which allows participants to experience and anticipate an abstract landscape inspired by
the Marshland, Norfolk, UK.
Evolving Oblique was first exhibited at Ogaki Biennale 2004 and also enjoyed a lot of positive
resonance at different exhibitions (e.g. ICAT 2004 Korea, Prague Biennale of
Contemporary Art 2005) and at different conferences (e.g. Ars Electronica 2004, ACM
Multimedia 2004, New York). It was awarded at the ACM Multimedia 2004.
Evolving Oblique engages video tracking, triple video projection and quadraphonic
sound projection to emerge an interactive media environment.
Evolving Oblique Toccata Orpheus (2008)
tags:
interactive environment and installation, interactive architecture, video tracking, embodiment, performative space
During a conference we got in contact with Stefan Östersjö from the Malmö
Music Academy, Lund University, Sweden.
Evolving Oblique Toccata Orpheus also has an extended and updated version of the Evolving Oblique
environment. New media was added, a new soundscape will be added and the framework was
updated to use current technology.
Evolving Oblique Toccata Orpheus is projected to be first presented later in 2008.
Social Radar (2006/2007)
tags:
interactive environment, interactive architecture, multi-participant, context awareness, motion tracking,
embodiment, performative space, proxemics
Social Radar is an interactive multi-participant environment that I did in co-operation
with the IEM and the IAM at Graz, Austria.
Social Radar uses motion tracking, different sound projection formats and a video
projection to open up an interactive architectural environment. Additionally it
gathers environmental information for context-aware interaction with the
inhabitant.
Social Radar binaural (2007/2008)
tags:
interactive environment, interactive architecture, spatial cognition, multi-participant, context awareness,
motion tracking, embodiment, performative space, proxemics
Social Radar binaural is a specialised concept emerging from Social Radar. In addition
it deals with spatial cognition for blind(-folded) participants. It uses rhythmic
phrases to convey a feeling for interaction and embodiment.
ミミます (2007)
tags:
spatial cognition, motion tracking, cellular automata
ミミます
explores the rhythmic potential of cellular automata which are fed by motion data of a 'non-seeing'
person that moves in acoustic space.
flash_flag/pink_noise (2007)
tags:
media installation, film, video, surround sound
flash_flag/pink_noise is a collaboration with the Italian artisit Philipp Messner. It is a
multimedia (video and surround sound) installation that deals with national
symbolism (flags) vs. everyone being humankind and sharing the
same base for living - this planet.
mi manca tanto II (2005/2006)
tags:
media project, sound design
mi manca tanto is a media project that also deals with space, loaction and dislocation. It was presented
during different presentations, exhibitions and festivals.
I also like to take photos and during my stays abroad it was nice for my friends and relatives to be able
to have some photos available on the Internet. Therefore I put my first website only and called it Bilderbuch. But
after a while I abandoned it.
Recently I thought that was a great idea and started it again. Here is my
Bilderbuch series of pictures.
Please feel free to contact me.
